🌿 A Day With Us Where Every Day Brings Something New
Where Care, Learning & Play Come Together
No two days look exactly the same.
At Dean Family Child Care Home & Preschool, our days follow a familiar rhythm while leaving plenty of room for children's ideas, interests, discoveries, and developmental needs to guide where the day takes us.
Whether a child is an infant, toddler, or preparing for kindergarten, every part of the day provides opportunities to connect, explore, develop independence, build relationships, and learn through play.
Our daily rhythm grows with the children.

Starting the Day With Belonging
Children are welcomed into a familiar environment where they can settle in, connect with friends, and ease into their day.
Morning play provides opportunities to explore materials, revisit ongoing interests, engage with friends, and connect individually with the teacher.
This relaxed beginning helps children transition from home into their day, building the sense of security and belonging that supports learning.
🌅 Arrival & Morning Connection

🌿 Outdoor Exploration

Fresh Air, Movement & DiscoveryOutdoor time is an important part of our day—not simply a break from learning.
Children have extended opportunities to move their bodies, explore our outdoor classroom, engage in imaginative play, create in the mud kitchen, investigate nature, make music, build, dig, and follow their curiosity. Some days an unexpected discovery—a caterpillar, a puddle, an interesting leaf, or a child's question—may become the beginning of an entirely new investigation. The outdoors isn't separate from our curriculum. It's part of it.
🌱 Gathering Together

Building Our Classroom Community
Throughout the day, we come together as a small group to connect, share ideas, read stories, sing songs, move our bodies, and talk about things we're wondering about or exploring. With only six children, these gatherings can be responsive and conversational rather than long, teacher-directed lessons.Children learn to listen to one another, contribute their ideas, participate in a group, and recognize that their voices are an important part of our classroom community.
🎨 Play, Projects & Exploration
Where Ideas Come to Life
Children are given uninterrupted time to become deeply engaged in play and exploration.Depending on what we're investigating, children might be painting, building, experimenting with light, exploring loose parts, creating stories, investigating natural materials, practicing early writing, measuring, sorting, or collaborating on a project with friends.I observe children's play and introduce materials, questions, and experiences that help extend their thinking.Sometimes an experience lasts a morning. Other times, children's interest carries an investigation across several days or even weeks.
🍎 Meals & Conversation
Gathering Around the Table
Meals are another opportunity for connection, conversation, independence, and community.Children enjoy nutritious meals and snacks together while practicing age-appropriate self-help skills, table routines, and conversation with friends.Meals and snacks are included as part of our full-day program.
🍎 Breakfast • Morning Snack • Lunch • Afternoon Snack
🌙 Rest, Reset & Quiet Time
Every Child Needs a Different Kind of Pause
After a busy morning of learning, playing, and exploring, our afternoons include time for children's bodies and minds to slow down.
Children who need sleep are given the opportunity to nap, while children who have outgrown naps are supported with developmentally appropriate quiet rest before transitioning to calm activities.
This quieter portion of our day gives everyone an opportunity to recharge before the afternoon begins.

❤️ Caring for Our Bodies & Emotions

Throughout the day, children are encouraged to begin recognizing and communicating what their bodies need.
Sometimes that means movement. Sometimes it's connection with a teacher. And sometimes a child simply needs a quieter place for a few moments.
Our indoor and outdoor calming spaces are available throughout the day and offer children supportive places to pause, regulate, and reconnect before returning to play.
Self-regulation isn't something we expect young children to already know how to do.
It's something we help them learn.
🌤️ Afternoon Play & Reconnection
Ending Our Day Through Play
After rest, children ease back into their afternoon through snack, play, creative experiences, and additional opportunities to spend time outdoors.
Children reconnect with friends, revisit favorite materials and projects, and enjoy a relaxed end to their preschool day before families arrive.

🍃 Time to Be Little
We don't believe childhood needs to be rushed.
Our days intentionally make room for children to finish the block structure they're building, investigate the worm they just discovered, work through a disagreement with a friend, paint for as long as inspiration lasts, or spend a little more time outside on a beautiful morning. There is structure to our day, but there is also space. Space to wonder. Space to move. Space to connect. Space to grow.
